BAND AND CHOIR CONCERT on June 5 CANCELLED

Based on advice received from the STF, our band and choir concerts scheduled for June 5, are cancelled. We are currently working on an alternate activity and will send information home as soon as possible.

Thank you for your understanding and support of our music program.

Second Semester Concert

Our second semester concert is on SUNDAY, JUNE 5th. It is split into Junior Groups at 2 p.m., Senior Groups at 7 p.m.
Junior Groups (Gr. 9 and 10 Band, Junior Choir) will need to arrive at 1:30 to warm up.
Senior Groups ( Gr. 11 and 12 Band, Senior Choir) will need to arrive at 6:30 p.m. to warm up.
Please make your student aware of this change in format, and have them clear their work schedule, sports schedules, extra curricular group schedules, in order to have them participate in the concert which is like their final exam in band/choir. Thank you in advance for your continued support.

Senior Band/Choir 2nd Payment for Tour

The third payment will be $50 and is due at our MANDATORY Tour meeting for parents and students TONIGHT: Monday, March 7th at 7 p.m. in the theatre. Bring your cheque books, see you there.

When: February 14 – 28, 2011

Deadline: February 28 & Mar 1, 2011, return forms to music teachers after February break

Delivery Date: Sometime in April (sorry we have no control over this)

Important Information: Please remember to put the music students name on the form and also a contact phone number and email address (it makes it easier to contact students if there are problems with forms or to notify students of pick-up).

The quality of the fruit and cookie dough is excellent! This is an easy fundraiser as everyone eats fruit and cookie dough, though not as nutritious, is delicious! Each case sold nets about $5.00 which is credited to the students fundraising account. Good luck with the fundraiser. If you have any questions, please call me.

Senior Band/Choir Tour Meeting

For those Senior Choir and Gr. 11/12 Band students going on our Music tour March 20 - 23, 2011 to Calgary, there is a mandatory meeting for you and one parent/guardian on Monday, March 7th at 7 p.m. in the theatre. Please note that the date has been changed from the 8th to the 7th. We will discuss rules, meet chaperones, go over details and collect the final payments. All students must attend with your parent.

Reminders

Just a couple of reminders:

1. There are still students who have not handed their practice record in yet – it is worth 20% of their mark….so please remind them to bring them in…cut off date is by the end of Period 5 exam day.
2. On Jan. 30 at at 1:30 p.m. in the Education Building, Quance Theatre U of S, several of our Gr. 12 Band students will be performing a concert with the U of S High School Select Wind Orchestra. This is an auditioned group of students from Saskatoon High Schools and surrounding area bands. I encourage you to attend and cheer our Guardians on! This can also be used for Semester Two Concert Review or bonus mark submission.

Sobeys Cards

Sobeys Cards can be picked up at tonight's concert and will be activated on Tuesday, November 2.  Tonight's music concert starts @ 7pm in the theatre.  Hope to see you there!
